Prathishta
Sree Navaneetha Gopalakrishna Swamy Temple, Perinkulam
There are mainly two prathishtas inside the temple, one is Main Devatha Sri Navaneetha Gopala Krishna Swamy and Upadevatha Sri Maha Ganapathy
Navaneetha Krishna
The main deity is “Sree Navaneetha Gopalakrishna Swamy” one of the most worshipped version of Lord Sreekrishna. The prathishta is eastward looking and the structure of the Parthishta is a peculiar one wherein the Deity holds “navaneetham” (Butter) in both his hands and the right leg is positioned in such a way that it gives an impression that the Lord is on his mark to run with the Butter in hand.
Taking pictures of Deity are seen as utterly disrespectful towards the culture and the Holy one worshipped inside temple, is the reason behind not providing the original picture of deity here. We request all devotees to follow these customs whenever you visit the temple.
Maha Ganapathy
The second Prathishta , or the Upadevatha in the temple is located at the South –west corner of the inside portion of the temple – Mahaganapathy and frequently called Mahaganadhipati.
Nagadevathas
Another peculiarity of the temple is that the prathishta of “nagadevathas” are located some 300 meter away from the temple (believed to be the Vashtu border of the agraharams ) on the southern part of the South Village under a big Banyan Tree.
